Dyer to Ranger

Alabama's Clay Dyer announced this week that he will fish out of a Ranger on the FLW Tour, FLW Series Eastern Division and possibly some of the Bassmaster Opens in 2007.

"I don't have my boat yet, but it's on the way," he said. "They're such a great company – their morals and values line up with mine, they operate at the most elite level there is and they build a very safe boat. So many things lined up together that it made it a no-lose situation all the way around."

He fished four of the six Tour events from a Stratos last year and his best finish was 159th at the Wal-Mart Open (Beaver FLW). Stratos announced last month that it was releasing everyone on its pro staff except for Larry Nixon to focus on its owners tournaments and pricing programs.

His objective for next year is to be more consistent.

"That might sound kind of weak to some people, but that's what I need to do. I'd like to get some checks, then ultimately qualify for the (Forrest Wood Cup) and win one of the tournaments."

The national spokesman for C.A.S.T. for Kids (an organization that gives disabled and disadvantaged children the opportunity to enjoy quality outdoor recreational experiences) stayed busy with speaking appearances and other engagements during the past few months, but will now take some time off until the new campaign begins in January.

He invites BassFans to stay in touch with him through www.TeamDyer.com. "They can sign up for the newsletter that tells them where I'm at and what's going on, and they can also submit questions. If we answer the question on the site they'll win a prize, and they'll be entered into a drawing that'll take place on Dec. 31 for a fishing trip with me."
